Bộ sưu tập sinh vật biển trong suốt đầy sắc màu này được giới thiệu nhân dịp kỷ niệm 100 năm thành lập Viện Hải dương học (1922–2022). Khoảng 30 mẫu cá xương và cá sụn được chế tác bằng kỹ thuật nhuộm xương – sụn và làm trong suốt hiện đại.

Từ năm 2018, đội ngũ Bảo tàng đã kiên trì nghiên cứu và trở thành một trong những đơn vị tiên phong tại Việt Nam ứng dụng thành công kỹ thuật này. Phương pháp giúp mẫu vật giữ nguyên hình dạng tự nhiên: phần thịt trở nên trong suốt, trong khi xương được nhuộm hồng–tím và sụn nhuộm xanh, làm lộ rõ cấu trúc giải phẫu mà không cần kính hiển vi. Bộ sưu tập vừa mang giá trị khoa học, vừa có tính thẩm mỹ cao, thể hiện nỗ lực đổi mới của Viện Hải dương học trong cách thức trưng bày – giúp công chúng khám phá thế giới đại dương một cách trực quan, sinh động và đầy cảm hứng hơn.​

This vibrant collection of transparent marine specimens was created to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Institute of Oceanography (1922–2022). It features around 30 bony and cartilaginous fish specimens prepared using modern bone–cartilage staining and clearing techniques.

Since 2018, the Museum team has persistently experimented and become one of the pioneering institutions in Viet Nam to successfully apply this technology. The technique preserves the natural shape of each specimen: the tissues are rendered transparent while bones are stained pink–purple and cartilage stained blue, revealing detailed anatomical structures without the need for a microscope. The collection embodies both scientific value and artistic beauty, reflecting the Institute’s commitment to innovative exhibition methods and offering the public a more vivid, engaging, and visually compelling way to explore the ocean world.
